State Duma deputies propose to halve the maximum share of advertising for gambling and lotteries, and also reduce the time during which such advertising is allowed to be broadcast by two hours. This legislative initiative was made by the LDPR faction.
Let us remind you that the organization of the gambling business in Russia is under strict restrictions and is allowed only in five special zones throughout the country, and casino advertising is completely prohibited.
However, it was not against the backdrop of these measures that alternative gambling establishments began to appear everywhere – bookmakers and various kinds of lotteries. They are not formally subject to these restrictions, but in fact they are the same enterprises that make money on gambling and betting, which also provoke addiction and can lead to severe financial consequences for unrestrained people.
The proposal of the deputies is connected with this. Here is how the leader of the LDPR faction, Leonid Slutsky, commented on it:
-This is only the first stage of the struggle. We are well aware of the dominance of bookmaker advertising on the Internet. It’s impossible to watch a video or open a website without coming across another call to bet on sports. They do not shy away from using even the speeches of the founder of the LDPR, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, inserting links to online casinos into the video. It is necessary to limit the influx of people into betting shops. Especially protect young people from their influence, who are ready to take risks for ephemeral benefits, quick money, which will allow them to realize the picture of happiness drawn by bloggers on social networks.
