The rule on burial in military cemeteries will be extended to employees of the Russian Guard who died in military service. This is stated in the amendments to the second reading of the bill on guarantees for the burial of fallen military personnel, TASS reports with reference to the document.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, said that the amendments will also clarify the list of guaranteed burial services for military and veterans. In particular, the burial itself, the production and installation of tombstones are planned to be carried out at the expense of the executive authorities and government agencies in which they served or performed contractual duties.

The listed changes are being made to the law “On burial and funeral affairs”. The relevant State Duma committee today, February 21, intends to adopt the appropriate amendments.

In December 2023, President Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows the Russian Guard to have its own volunteer formations. The document gave volunteers of the Russian Guard the same rights as volunteers of the Ministry of Defense. This week the government also approved rules for issuing combat veteran certificates to participants in volunteer formations as part of the Russian Guard. They were given the right to social benefits, including property tax, as well as compensation for utility bills in the amount of 50%.
