The number of accidents involving drunk drivers in Russia has decreased by 14% since January, and the number of deaths and injuries in such accidents has decreased by 26% and 13%, respectively. This follows from statistics Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, a total of 9,599 road accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication were recorded over nine months. This is 14.2% less than in the same period a year earlier. 2,050 people died in such road accidents, and 12,602 people were injured.
How reported Traffic police, since the beginning of the year, 96.7 thousand accidents have occurred throughout Russia. This is 4.9% more year on year. 10.3 thousand people died in accidents (+1.3%), 121.4 thousand people were injured (+4.3%). The leading regions in terms of the number of accidents were Moscow (6.1 thousand), Krasnodar Territory (4.4 thousand), Nizhny Novgorod Region (3.4 thousand), St. Petersburg (3 thousand), Moscow Region (2. 8 thousand).
