According to the chief specialist of the Moscow Meteorological Bureau, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, temporary snow cover of up to 10 centimeters may appear in Moscow by Saturday morning. The weather forecast suggests that snow will begin to fall in Moscow at the end of the working week and due to the cooling of the underlying surface in the presence of frost, the snow cover will linger on the ground.

The specialist noted that the date of formation of temporary snow cover in Moscow according to the climate of 1961-1990 falls on October 28.

However, as Tatyana Pozdnyakova said, in the 21st century there were only 4 cases when snow fell on that day. One of these cases occurred in 2012, when the snow cover formed on October 28; at VDNKh its height reached 12 centimeters and lasted for 4 days.

Earlier, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said that heavy snowfalls are expected over the weekend, which could lead to the formation of significant snow cover.
