Over the 12 months – from December 2022 to November 2023, about 13 million Russians took advantage of various options to reduce the cost of a taxi ride, which allowed them to save a total of almost 2.7 billion rubles, Yandex analysts reported after analyzing anonymized data about the trips of compatriots. The approach to calculations using big data allowed us to take into account all seasonal fluctuations.
The Yandex Go press service reported that the company has introduced special technologies that allow passengers to save on travel. For example, the algorithm might suggest waiting a little longer for the car, walking a few minutes to your destination, or sharing the ride with a fellow traveler.
According to the data presented, people who chose to wait longer for the car saved approximately 1 billion rubles. And those who chose an alternative disembarkation point paid 152 million rubles less than if they had traveled at an economy fare. Passengers traveling with fellow travelers saved almost 1.5 billion rubles. Now this opportunity is available in 18 cities – the option is being launched gradually throughout the country from September 2022, so the amount of money saved may differ significantly from city to city, service representatives explained.
The statistics take into account trips using price reduction options in cities with a population of over a million from December 2022 to November 2023.
