The Meshchansky Court of Moscow fined political scientist Ekaterina Shulman (recognized as a foreign media agent) for 10 thousand rubles. She was found guilty of violating the law on foreign agents. This was announced by human rights activist Pavel Chikov with reference to a lawyer from the courtroom. Today, August 19, Mrs. Shulman celebrates her birthday.
“The state, represented by the Meshchansky Court of Moscow, congratulated Ekaterina Shulman on her birthday and fined her 10,000 rubles for violating the law on foreign agents,” Pavel Chikov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Later, Ekaterina Shulman announced that she would appeal against the fine. “They remember me at home, how touching. In the Meshchansky Court, one judge returned the protocol to Roskomnadzor due to errors in drafting, but they took it and sent it again in the same form, and another judge accepted it. This is not supposed to be done even in our time, so let’s go with a lawyer to challenge further so that my connection with my homeland is not interrupted, ”she wrote in her Telegram channel.
The Ministry of Justice included Ekaterina Shulman in the register of foreign media agents on April 15. She called the decision legally absurd and said she would appeal against it. In June, Mrs. Shulman amounted to protocol for not marking a foreign agent. After the start of the military operation in Ukraine, she left from Russia to Germany.
