Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation, said on Wednesday that in Russia, about 70-80% of fraudulent calls are made through the WhatsApp messenger.
“Now we clearly see that 70-80% of fraudulent calls are made not from the usual numbering, but from WhatsApp,” RIA Novosti quotes Shadayev.
In addition, Shadayev said that according to his information, about 200 administrative cases have been initiated against operators that transmit traffic from spoof numbers.
Mintsifra, as noted by its head, agreed with operators on actions against advertising spam calls. The Minister expressed the hope that such calls would be “an order of magnitude less.”
