Recall, in the Sverdlovsk village of Sosva on the afternoon of April 25, a fire broke out near the medical correctional institution (LIU) No. 23. The fire quickly spread to residential buildings due to strong winds. In the evening, a state of emergency was declared in the village. The fire raged all night, and the next morning it became known that about 100 residential buildings were destroyed in the fire. The fire was localized on April 26 on an area of ​​9 thousand square meters. m.

As a result, a medical correctional institution (LIU) for prisoners (240 convicts were evacuated) and eight freight railway cars burned down.

As of the evening of April 26, two people died in the fire. A 62-year-old man was found under the rubble of the burnt house. On Wednesday evening, investigators said they found the charred remains of another person, presumably an elderly woman, who was reported missing after the fire. Earlier portal 66.ru reported that since the evening of April 25, an elderly local resident, moving on crutches, had not been contacted.

A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of causing death by negligence (Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In another criminal case – under Art. 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – possible negligence on the part of officials who did not take the necessary measures to ensure the fire safety of a settlement during a fire hazard period is being investigated. The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kurenkov, said that violations of fire safety requirements in the village of Sosva were revealed in early April during an on-site unscheduled inspection. At the same time, an order was issued to eliminate them.

According to one of the versions being worked out, the fire could have broken out due to sawdust smoldering on the territory of the timber processing enterprise, said the official representative of the regional head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Valery Gorelykh. According to him, now in Sosva, the police are patrolling the streets around the clock to prevent looting.

He added that the region has all the necessary regulatory framework to provide material assistance to fire victims. First of all, they will be paid 10 thousand rubles. Further, payments for the loss of property are calculated – up to 100 thousand rubles. per person, but not more than 300 thousand rubles. for a family. Then, work on issues related to housing will begin. According to the regional government, some residents of Sosva want to stay in the village and rebuild their houses.
