Sergey Zhukov and Klava Koka will determine the best cover artist on STS

March 24 at 21.00 on STS will premiere the vocal TV project “Battle of Covers” with the presenter – showman and comedian Aidar Garayev. The performances of the best cover bands from all over the country and neighboring countries will be evaluated by two permanent jury members – Sergey Zhukov and Klava Koka – and one star guest.

Sergey Zhukov: “Battle of Covers” is not a story about who sang better, but about the opportunity for guys from different cities to show that they not only play well as cover bands, but also know how to be creative. I could not even imagine that the songs of “Lube” would sound so cool in the rock style, and “Hop, Trash Can” would perfectly fit the music of The Pussycat Dolls. I’m sure it will be an interesting show.”

Leader of Hands Up! admitted that he would not mind finding wards in the show for producing: “Why not? I really liked the way one of the contestants performed. I will gladly take his contacts. For example, in December I also presented my new project “Hands Up! Band”. This is a cover band that is now actively traveling around the country and tearing up the halls.

In the first editions, the invited judges will be: Ida Galich, Sergey Svetlakov, Anton Shastun, Vladimir Sychev, Regina Todorenko, Roman Postovalov, Anatoly Tsoi and other stars. “I really love programs that show how talented people live in our country. Often we just forget about it,” says Ida Galich. – And I got goosebumps! Interestingly, all contestants need to be both imitators and vocalists performing in their own style. And they are great at it. I’m still in shock, really!

The host of the new show, Aidar Garayev, knows the feelings of the participants: the showman himself records cover versions of famous hits for his YouTube channel. “It’s more difficult, of course, to sing your own. Firstly, you need to come up with a song to begin with, and secondly, you need to correctly convey it to the viewer. In the case of a cover, the artist’s task is a little easier. In fact, you take a ready-made hit and process it a little. True, many fans of this song may be outraged. For example, when you try to parody, for example, Tsoi, people always come with the words: “Kid, where are you going, stop!”, Aidar admitted.

The project involves more than 40 musical groups from different cities of Russia, as well as from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Cuba. In each episode, the teams present their versions of famous Russian hits, and the jury and the hall, which can accommodate 500 spectators, vote for the best. At the end of the season, the audience is waiting for a big three-hour superfinal, in which the winner of the show will be determined.
