Sakhalin residents won 13 medals at the Far Eastern jiu-jitsu competitions. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Sports.
Athletes from the island region returned with awards from the Far Eastern Martial Arts Games and Jiu-Jitsu tournament, which took place in Khabarovsk. Eight Sakhalin children aged from 6 to 13 years competed for medals.
“Based on the results of the competition in the gi section (wrestling in a kimono), Ilya Slepenchuk, Sergey Kulpin and Danil Akantiev took gold medals. Artem Vedrov won the silver award, Vladislav Shcheglov won the bronze award,” the Ministry of Sports noted.
In the no gi (without kimono) section, gold went to Artem Vedrov. The silver medal winners were Ilya Slepenchuk, Danil Akantiev and Stepan Lysenko.
At the Far East Jiu-Jitsu tournament among men over 18 years old, Alexey Kalinin took second in the gi and no gi sections. Alexander Sokolyuk won silver in the no gi section and bronze in the gi section.
