The next spacewalk of Russian cosmonauts is scheduled for April-May. They will need to equip the multi-purpose laboratory module “Science”. This was stated by the director of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov.
The Soyuz MS-23 spacecraft docked with the ISS today. He brought 430 kg of cargo. Including medicines, underwear, food, hygiene products and equipment for scientific research. In addition, equipment was delivered to the ISS that will improve the control of the station via satellites. On the same ship, cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and astronaut Frank Rubio will have to return to Earth.
This is an emergency situation. Soyuz MS-23 was supposed to fly to the station only in March. The ship, on which the astronauts were supposed to return, was docked to the ISS at the end of last year. But on December 15 there was a depressurization of the outer contour of the radiator of the ship’s thermal control system. The State Commission analyzed the situation and decided to lower the damaged side in automatic mode. Later, experts found that the cause of the depressurization was the impact of a sporadic meteoroid.
