In Tyumen, security forces seized property from members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community

Security forces seized a plot of land and a house on it in Tyumen from members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses community (a religious organization recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), who came to Russia from Finland. The property was given to them by local supporters, the prosecutor’s office of the Tyumen region reports.

The department recalled that back in 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization and banned its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation. In this regard, the prosecutor’s office noted, the property remaining after satisfying the creditors’ claims should be turned into state ownership.

The prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit demanding that the donation agreement be declared invalid. The Leninsky District Court of Tyumen satisfied the requirements of the supervisory authority.
