Ex-deputy Belousov, accused of a record bribe, is wanted
Former State Duma deputy Vadim Belousov, who was convicted of a record bribe of 3.25 billion rubles, was put on the wanted list. Law enforcement agencies reported this.
On December 27, 2023, the Supreme Court of Russia overturned the sentence in absentia of a former deputy who was sentenced to 10 years for corruption. The case was sent for retrial to the Moscow Regional Court. Also involved in this case is Margarita Butakova, who is Belousov’s mother-in-law and also the chief accountant of OJSC First Bread Factory.
As the investigation learned, two road construction entrepreneurs, Konstantin Ovchinnikov and Alexey Bashaev, transferred 10 million rubles every month from 2010 to 2014 to Vadim Belousov and his patron Mikhail Yurevich. For this, businessmen were provided with favorable conditions for concluding government contracts and a complete lack of competition in this market in exchange for 20% of profits.
