Russian man sentenced to prison for Holocaust denial

The Magadan Regional Court sentenced a resident of the region on charges of rehabilitation of Nazism related to Holocaust denial. According to the prosecutor’s office, the court found the young man guilty and sentenced him to 2 years in a penal colony.
The court found that in February the accused in a messenger denied “the historical reality and scale of the extermination of Jews by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Second World War.”
By the verdict, the court also deprived the accused of the right to publicly post appeals and materials on the Internet for 3 years.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed.
