Court in Perm arrests human rights activist Chernyshov in case of smuggling archives until July 11
In Perm, the Leninsky District Court arrested human rights activist Alexander Chernyshov until July 11, who is charged in the case of “archival” smuggling.
Earlier, the Perm department of the FSB announced the initiation of a case due to an attempt to export to the Federal Republic of Germany archival documents of Memorial (a non-profit organization that acts as a foreign agent and was liquidated by a court decision), “of cultural and historical value.”
According to an informed source of RIA Novosti, the defendants in the case were the former head of the Perm branch of “Memorial” Robert Latypov and the head of the local “Center for Historical Memory” Alexander Chernyshov. The latter was arrested until July 11 – for a period of one month and 20 days, a representative of the Leninsky District Court said.
At the beginning of the month, Memorial’s telegram channel reported: Chernyshov was detained at Sheremetyevo and sentenced to 15 days for petty hooliganism.
In 2022, the Permian media reported that Latypov had left the country.
