Russia initiates first LGBT propaganda case under new article

In relation to the publishing house “Popcorn Books” in Russia, the first case was opened under a new article about LGBT propaganda.
It was initiated at the request of State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein of the Golyanovo Department of Internal Affairs, under articles on propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and petty hooliganism.
“I hope that the case will be brought to court and Popcorn Books, which has openly challenged the state, will get what it deserves,” he wrote. TG channel head of the parliamentary committee on information policy.
Khinshtein also recalled that Popcorn Books, which is one of the flagships for the promotion of LGBT literature, continued to sell it after the law came into force. In addition, quotes from the 29th article, which guarantees freedom of speech and prohibition of censorship, appeared on the book covers.
