Russia has developed a GOST for training drone operators – Kommersant

Aeronet Center and the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky have developed a GOST project for training operators of unmanned aircraft systems. RIA Novosti was informed about this by the press service of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).

In total, the project specifies 70 mandatory skills that a drone operator must master. The main requirement specified in GOST is to prevent damage to people and buildings located on the ground, as well as to other “air traffic participants”.

The drone operator must be able to prepare the drone for flight, take off, gain altitude, have the skills to fly in cruising mode, perform a descent and landing, build a route, be able to prevent collisions, and also act in emergency and abnormal situations, including when changing weather conditions.

GOST also specifies the characteristics of the instructor’s workplace, computer performance, and what the remote pilot’s station should be like. The document states that a remote pilot must be able to quickly take control of the drone at any time.

Nikita Danilov, CEO and founder of the Fly Drone company, said that GOST should bring a variety of drone pilot training programs to a common denominator. In addition, in his opinion, this should have a positive impact on flight safety.

As part of the national project for the development of unmanned aircraft systems in 2024–2025, eight research and production centers in the specialized field will be created in Russia. The first such center was opened in the Samara region.
