A monument to Joseph Stalin was erected in a children’s park in the city of Orlov in the Kirov region. Writes about this “Climb”.
It is noted that the opening will take place on October 24; Stalin’s great-grandson Selim Bensaad was invited to the event. They decided to erect the monument on the initiative of the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, despite the fact that not all residents appreciated this idea. The children’s park was chosen because a similar monument was located in this place during the USSR.
The government of the Kirov region stated that they pointed out to the head of the city of Orlov “the inadmissibility of authoritarian decisions” in this matter.
“The Ministry of Internal Policy of the Kirov Region government strongly recommended that the administration of the city of Orlov hold an open vote of residents on the issue of installing the monument, since not all citizens support this initiative,” the government said.
They added that the vote was not held despite the fact that the initiative affects the interests of thousands of residents.
Activists of the Vyatka organization of victims of political repression wrote a complaint to the prosecutor’s office.
