Rural school in the KBR: 40 years with a toilet outside

“Civilization” came after a major overhaul to a secondary school in the rural settlement of Chernaya Rechka in Kabardino-Balkaria, where about four hundred children and adolescents are currently studying.

Finally, there are full-fledged toilet rooms. Until now, since the school was put into operation in the early 80s, schoolchildren and teachers in Chernaya Rechka used street toilets.

“Major repairs in a rural school in the Urvan district of the KBR were done for the first time,” says school principal Fatima Shidova. – Now the school has a completely new roof, an updated facade with an entrance group, wooden floors have been opened and replaced with tiles or laminate, walls in all rooms have been re-plastered and re-painted, suspended ceilings are made using Armstrong technology, water supply and sewerage networks have been redone. The work was carried out on almost four thousand square meters. m area. The toilet facilities in the building have not worked for all forty years: their operation was impossible due to the proximity of groundwater. So we were forced to use an outdoor toilet.”

The contractor solved the problem. In addition, completely new equipment was brought to the school catering department: ovens, refrigerators and freezers, cutting tables, washing baths, racks, and so on. New furniture was purchased for the classrooms – desks, chairs and cabinets.

“Wishes regarding the repair of toilets and the dining room were taken into account, the dining room was equipped with new appliances.

I am sure that our children will feel comfortable at school,” Oksana Shortayeva, a representative of the school parent committee, assessed the result of the work carried out.

By the way, the parents of schoolchildren followed the progress and quality of repair work with special attention. On their own initiative, they participated in the improvement of the surrounding area. It is important that the result of the work satisfied the schoolchildren themselves and their teachers.

“I am satisfied with the repair of the gym, there is inventory, the hall has the equipment necessary for conducting classes at a good level,” said physical education teacher Zamir Dolov.

A high school student Bela Shantukova emphasized the importance of arranging the premises for the Center for Children’s Initiatives.

“Now we have a place to unite schoolchildren with joint activities. Soon modern furniture will be delivered to the Center so that the children feel comfortable here and even a little like owners, because it is not for nothing that it is called the room for children’s initiatives,” the schoolgirl concluded.
