The incidence of influenza and ARVI in Moscow corresponds to the season, Rospotrebnadzor reported. Despite this, representatives of the department recommend that Muscovites spend less time in crowded places and public transport, and also wear masks.
“In the 49th week of 2023 in Moscow, the incidence of influenza and ARVI corresponds to this period of the year,” the department said in a statement in Telegram. According to the department’s monitoring results, the most common viruses are of non-influenza etiology, but the proportion of influenza A (H3N2) viruses still remains high.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, more than 7.5 million people, or more than 60% of Muscovites, have now been vaccinated in the capital. Among those vaccinated are 1.3 million children.
As of the end of September, in 35 Russian cities there were serious exceeded epidemic thresholds for the incidence of influenza and ARVI. According to newsletter St. Petersburg Research Institute of Influenza named after A. A. Smorodintsev, from November 20 to 26, the incidence of ARVI and influenza was 81.6 per 10 thousand. The number of cases was almost 1.2 million people per week.
