To protect all educational institutions in all Russian regions, about 700 thousand new employees of the Russian Guard and about 600 billion rubles will be required annually. This was announced by Advisor to the Director of the Russian Guard Igor Pyshkin. According to him, due to the burden on the country’s budget, this is difficult to do.

“Two years ago, we worked on the issue of protecting all objects of the Ministry of Education in the country, and to do this, we will need an additional approximately 700 thousand new employees and about 600 billion rubles. additionally annually,” Igor Pyshkin said at a committee meeting in the State Duma.

“This is a big burden on the budget, and it is problematic to ensure this even for some time,” he added. According to the adviser to the director of the Russian Guard, to prevent armed attacks in schools there is already an employee of a private security company (PSC), as well as a frame and an alarm button.

On December 7, an eighth-grader from Bryansk gymnasium No. 5 brought a Bekas-3 pump-action shotgun to a biology lesson. At this time, the metal detector frame at the entrance to the school was not working – school staff decided to turn on the New Year’s garland instead. A criminal case was opened against the school management for negligence resulting in the death of two persons by negligence (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, up to seven years in prison). After this, school security was strengthened in several regions.

In 2019, the government issued a decree requiring all Russian schools and kindergartens to install alarm systems. In addition, in the same year, it was decided to connect most schools to video surveillance and alarm systems, as well as to hire private security companies or private security officers to protect them, as well as equip security posts with metal detectors.

Enhanced security measures for educational institutions were introduced after a student started shooting at the Amur College of Construction and Housing and Communal Services in Blagoveshchensk on November 14, 2019. One student died; the attacker committed suicide.
