Roskomnadzor was allowed to block sites with methods for circumventing restrictions

Roskomndazor received the right to block sites that contain instructions on how to bypass blocking. The Russian government decree was published on the official legal information portal. Since July, information on ways to bypass blocking of online resources has been entered into the Unified Register of Prohibited Information.
Criteria have already been developed by which resources with prohibited information will be assessed. In particular, it is mentioned that the site will be blocked if the information describes in an attractive form ways to access prohibited resources. It is also not allowed to publish justifications for the benefits of using means of bypassing locks.
From February last year to June this year, RKN blocked access to 206 thousand resources. Against this background, Russians began to actively download and use VPN services. They made it possible to bypass restrictions.
