Roskomnadzor confirmed that it had received a request to block the TikTok platform in Russia from the Association of Professional Users of Social Networks and Messengers. The document is now under consideration until May 8, the RKN press service reported.
Earlier, representatives of APPSIM took the initiative to ban the use of TikTok in Russia. They believe that this will increase the audience of Russian social networks that will come from TikTok. Currently, the number of Russians using the platform to watch short videos is 30 million.
Currently TikTok does not work in Russia. The application shows videos from two years ago. However, despite this, users continue to access the application.
