Roskachestvo has named the number of Russians being attacked by phone scammers – as reported, calls are received by about 40% of Russian residents on a weekly basis. The data is provided by RIA Novosti.
Although no more than 1% of compatriots share confidential data with intruders, high-profile cases of fraud occur almost every day, the report says. As noted, this is due to the fact that fraudulent schemes are diverse and it is not always easy to recognize them.
The study says that 39% of respondents from among Russian citizens reported calls from financial scammers 1-2 times a week. However, it is also noted that some respondents reported daily calls.
Roskachestvo experts advised, when using mobile banking applications, to log in using a password, a code from an SMS message and biometrics, not to tell anyone the three-digit code on the back of the card, and to download applications only on the official website of the bank or from application stores.
