Roscosmos can launch Luna-26 and Luna-27 to the Earth’s satellite ahead of schedule

Roscosmos is considering the possibility of an earlier launch of the interplanetary stations Luna-26 and Luna-27. This was announced by the head of the state corporation Yuri Borisov at the IAC-2023 congress in Baku.
“No one is going to give up, and we are determined to continue the lunar program. Moreover, we are considering the possibility of shifting the Luna-26 and Luna-27 missions to the left in order to get the results we need as quickly as possible,” Borisov said.
Earlier, Roscosmos named the most likely cause of the crash of the automatic interplanetary station Luna-25. The state corporation noted that the emergency could have occurred due to abnormal functioning of the on-board control system. Taking into account the errors in the system, the company has already formulated recommendations for future lunar missions.
Luna-25 was launched on the night of August 11 from the Vostochny cosmodrome. On August 16, the spacecraft entered lunar orbit. The station was expected to land north of the Boguslavsky crater on August 21. But during the transition of Luna-25 to the pre-landing orbit, an accident occurred. A malfunction of the accelerometer has already been cited as a possible cause of the crash. The head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that Russia could repeat the mission to the South Pole of the Moon by 2026.
