Rosaviatsiya urged airlines to consider resuming flights to Africa
[ad_1]
According to the Kommersant newspaper, Rosaviatsiya actively encourages Russian airlines open direct flights to African countries and Nepal.
Despite the fact that Russians are increasingly interested in traveling to Africa, the cost of flights to the continent remains too high. To date, there are no direct flights to African countries due to the fact that carriers do not have enough aircraft with dual registration: such liners flying to “friendly countries” will be provided with safety and maintenance.
Thus, the newspaper writes that in January, Russian airlines received telegrams from the Federal Air Transport Agency with a proposal to organize flights to South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Nepal. However, according to the Ministry of Transport, Rosaviatsia has not yet given clear instructions to carriers.
If specific initiatives appear, Russia will negotiate with the countries listed above on guarantees for dual-registration aircraft.
Also, carriers note that they do not have enough liners that can cover a distance of more than six to eight thousand kilometers. Also, airlines have big doubts that flights to Africa will pay off.
