The distressed refrigerated ship Amber Baltic, heading from the South Korean Busan, reached Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. On January 29, the ship lost its course in the Sea of Okhotsk during a storm, there were more than 20 people on board.
“The ship arrived at the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky today at one o’clock in the morning,” Sergey Lebedev, Minister for Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Territory, told RIA Novosti. No one was hurt during the towing, he said. The ship will need to repair the main engine, after which it will continue its journey.
Rosmorrechflot said that Amber Baltic was taken in tow by the rescue vessel “Fair” of the Federal Agency for Fishery. Due to deteriorating weather conditions in the towing area sent the second rescue ship LSS “Suvorovets”. Yesterday, February 2, Rostransnadzor launched an investigation into the Amber Baltic incident.
