Unscheduled holidays have been announced in Sevastopol due to water supply problems. The city was left without clean water due to a sharp rise in river levels and silting of water intakes. At today’s government meeting, it was decided to make Monday a short working day (up to 13 hours), and Tuesday and Wednesday completely non-working.

This is due, firstly, to the fact that schools and kindergartens cannot operate without water. And parents have no one to leave their children with. And in general, many organizations find it difficult to work in a “dehydrated mode.” And people must stand in lines at the tanks that deliver clean water throughout the city.

During a meeting of the head of Sevprirodnadzor, Yulia Gavrilova reported that the level of the Belbek River is now increased by more than 1.5 meters, the Chernaya River by more than 70 cm. The water contains a high content of silt, and therefore the level of turbidity has increased a hundred times. Dirty water has damaged a number of waterworks, and it takes time to clean them. “If we dirty the equipment, we will evaporate the sea water!” – water utility employees warn on social networks.

Only the northern part of the city is lucky, where water is taken not from rivers, but from underground wells, so the water there is clean and the water supply works properly. However, the central part of Sevastopol, where most institutions, shops, cafes, and hospitals are located, was left without water. And people are complaining that in some areas they have been without a drop for four days. Others report that water was supplied for two hours the day before – “we’re getting water where we can.” “It’s just terrible, there’s been no water since Friday, people are almost fighting in lines for water,” “Repina has been without water since Friday, it hasn’t even dripped,” write Sevastopol residents. At the same time, city residents are ready to help each other. “Come to Batumskaya, I still have it, I myself sat without water for three days, last night for some reason I went. I’ll share,” writes a city resident.

In search of drinking water, Sevastopol residents rushed to stores and to dispensers with bottled water. None of the traders raised prices for bottled water. However, at retail outlets it quickly runs out – suppliers do not always have time to deliver. Therefore, you need to run around in search of water. Sevastopol residents solve the problem with technical water in different ways. Some people use rainwater for flushing, while others even melt snow.

The most incomprehensible situation is in hospitals, which were supposed to provide water, at least technical water. However, the mother of one boy who is in the hospital told the following story on social networks: “And again I want to turn to the administration and the head physician of the children’s complex, or maybe directly to the governor. I understand everything, there was an accident, there was no water, everyone had already come to their senses, but… the child endured for two days and did not go to the toilet for big errands, and when patience ran out, there was no water in the toilet even to flush, not to mention to wash your hands! And at the same time, the nurse, shouting obscenities at the child, expressed her indignation about the dirty toilet. So I have a question: where and how should children in the hospital go to the toilet? How about taking the dogs to the park next door and digging a hole?!” The city administration has already promised to look into this situation. But signals began to arrive from other clinics.
