Weekends announced in Sevastopol due to problems with water supply – Kommersant

The authorities of Sevastopol declared January 23 and 24 days off due to problems with water supply, said Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev Telegram. Today, January 22, from 13:00 there are shortened working hours in the city, tomorrow and Wednesday are days off. Only duty groups will work in kindergartens.
The governor recalled that due to heavy snowfalls in January and sudden warming, there was a critical saturation of low-lying areas and soils near rivers and hydraulic structures of ponds with water. Groundwater, turning into mudflows, was brought to the Chernaya River, from where the water flows to water intakes, cobblestones, branches, sand, clay, large debris and even trees. In such a situation, Razvozhaev emphasized, water cannot be supplied on a full scale to the waterworks, otherwise they will fail, and then the entire city will be left without water supply for a long period.
“Stopping the system, necessary for the accumulation and sanitary purification of water, will allow us to supply water as normal on the evening of January 24. If we continue to supply water periodically, the process may drag on for a week or more. I ask everyone to treat the situation with understanding,” the governor added.
