General Director of JSC “Water Union” (provides water supply in the Kurgan region) Vladimir Ovsyannikov warned about the risks of flooding of water intake structures due to floods. He advised the residents of Kurgan to provide themselves with a monthly supply of water. At the same time, Mr. Ovsyannikov noted that water is now supplied to the city as normal.

“There is a risk of flooding of water intake structures. Therefore, all residents of Kurgan need to make a monthly supply of water for drinking and household needs. Use all possible containers to ensure that this reserve is as large as possible,” said the general director of the Water Union. According to Vladimir Ovsyannikov, water is currently supplied to Kurgan in “normal mode” and “of normal quality.” Taking this into account, as Mr. Ovsyannikov noted, “there is time and there is an opportunity to make a supply of quality water.”

In the coming days, the flood situation is predicted to worsen in Kurgan and a number of municipal districts. According to the governor of the Kurgan region, Vadim Shumkov, the forecast is “rapidly deteriorating, water is arriving much more and faster.” A rise in water levels is expected in the Tobol, Uy, Iset, and Miass rivers. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in the zone of probable flooding there are 62 settlements, which include 4.3 thousand houses and 5.55 thousand household plots, with 18.7 thousand people living there.
