It became known that St. Petersburg State University, by order of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, carried out an examination of the song “Repentant” by the leader of the Leningrad group Sergei Shnurov. The university had to answer the question whether the artist’s work, which was published a little over two years ago and criticized Mr. Beglov for poor cleaning of the city, was damaging the reputation of the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov. Lawyers believe that by ordering such an examination, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs could consider the possibility of initiating a criminal case for libel against the popular performer. The university considered the passages of the song nothing more than sarcasm, but with fake information. However, “there are no signs of conveying them to the audience under the guise of authenticity,” the examination notes.
