This was told by the head of the department of medical rehabilitation Konstantin Ternovoy, the words of the expert are quoted by Sport24.
Recall that Kostomarov suffered a partial amputation of the limbs due to a severe form of pneumonia and tissue necrosis.
Ternovoy noted that the field of prosthetics is rapidly developing, modern prostheses are connected to human nerves.
“Roman will be forced to turn to specialists for maintenance and refinement of prostheses quite often – this is a very individual process. Over the course of several years, he will get used to and modify his prostheses to fit his lifestyle,” the expert said.
He added that Kostomarov’s prostheses will not be installed immediately, first you need to get rid of all the consequences of infections. Then he will be given simple mechanical prostheses, and after that they can be replaced with bionic ones. It’s a long process, but thanks to modern technology, Kostomarov may even be able to skate again.
