The head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Vasily Piskarev, told reporters that quoting materials from foreign agents in the media will be considered a violation of the requirements to ban their advertising only if the publication is made with the aim of increasing the audience of such resources.

“No. (A publication will be considered a violation – Kommersant) only for advertising purposes, in order to attract an audience so that as many people as possible can have access to the resources of foreign agents,” Piskarev answered the corresponding question (quoted by TASS).

The bill establishing bans on advertising of foreign agents and by foreign agents was introduced to the State Duma by an initiative group led by the chairman of the chamber Vyacheslav Volodin. Deputies will consider the bill in the first reading on Tuesday, and the second and third reading of the initiative could take place next week, Mr. Piskarev said.
