President Vladimir Putin received reports on the flood situation from the governors of the Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions. A separate report was provided by the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, who on the morning of April 9 re-arrived in the flood zone, according to a message on website Kremlin.

Previously Vladimir Putin spent telephone conversation with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Based on its results, as the Kremlin press service clarified, the heads of state gave instructions to governments to synchronize actions to combat floods.

On April 5, due to powerful floods on the Ural River in Orsk, a dam broke. According to the latest data, the number of flooded houses exceeded 10.5 thousand. About 6.4 thousand people were evacuated in the Orenburg region, and more than 550 more in the village of Zverinogolovskoye in the Kurgan region. The Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions are in a state of emergency. In Kazakhstan, due to severe floods, a state of emergency has been declared in ten regions of the country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev named the most difficult situation in 80 years.
