Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law increasing the state fee for issuing a biometric foreign passport from July 1, 2024. The document was published on Monday, November 27, on the official legal information portal.

The fee for issuing a biometric passport from July 1, 2024 will be indexed by 20% and will increase from 5 thousand to 6 thousand rubles.

The fee for issuing the same document for children under 14 years of age will increase from 2.5 thousand to 3 thousand rubles.

Meanwhile law restricting travel abroad for some categories of citizens comes into force on December 11, 2023. Marina Milovanova, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminalistics at Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafin, explained: the new rules are aimed at preventing the leakage of potentially significant information and important information that can be used against the state, society and citizens.

At the same time, it was reported that in Nadym, due to technical problems, temporary suspended the issuance of new generation passports. The local service department did not accept documents for registration and issuance of biometric identity passports outside the territory of Russia.
