Putin listed requirements for the development of university campuses

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, February 1, held a meeting on the implementation of a federal project to create a network of modern campuses of higher educational institutions.

The head of state emphasized that it is necessary to take into account the experience gained in implementing plans for the development of educational infrastructure. He recalled that in the next ten years it is planned to create 25 such campuses with modern educational and residential campuses, spaces for creativity, sports, and recreation.

They should provide students with ample opportunities for harmonious development, receiving a quality education, doing science and even entrepreneurship, Putin noted.

At the same time, new educational courses and methods should be introduced on new campuses of Russian universities, as well as career guidance for schoolchildren and advanced training for teachers, the president said.

Thanks to all this, campuses should become an intellectual resource for solving the problems of uplifting Russian territories and improving the quality of life of Russians, and should also make a visible contribution to the development of the entire country, the Russian leader concluded.

Meanwhile, Russia continues the transition to its own higher education system after abandoning the Bologna system. Putin assured that the updated system of higher education in the country will transition smoothly, there will be no difference in status between new bachelor’s diplomas and those already received. Already certified specialists do not have to fear discrimination.

Minister of Higher Education and Science Valery Falkov told how in the near future the principle of recruiting applicants will change to Russian universities. He noted that competition for a budget place in targeted recruitment is lower than in the main competition, which is unfair.
