Putin instructed to study measures for the repatriation of Russians deported from other countries

President Vladimir Putin ordered the study of measures for the repatriation of compatriots when they are deported from unfriendly countries. About it it says in instructions following a meeting with the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC) on the Kremlin website.
“The Government of the Russian Federation, together with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Human Rights Council, should prepare and submit proposals on the issues of ensuring the rights of compatriots permanently residing abroad, and taking additional measures for their repatriation in the event of illegal deportation from foreign, including unfriendly, states…” reported in the list of instructions.
The report must be submitted to the president by July 2024. Those responsible are Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and the head of the Human Rights Council Valery Fadeev.
In January, the Latvian Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs reported that 1,167 Russians were facing deportation from the country, 789 of them over 60 years of age. According to the agency, these Russians did not comply with the requirements of the amendments to the immigration law by not applying for one of the residence permits.
