Putin instructed to remove the condition of length of service for teachers and doctors for Arctic mortgages

President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to remove the work experience requirements for medical workers and teachers to obtain preferential mortgages in the Arctic zone. Doctors and teachers will be able to buy housing in the Arctic zone at a reduced interest rate of 2%, taking into account life and health insurance.

“I support this initiative and ask the government to extend this opportunity not only to medical workers, but also to teaching staff. This, it seems to me, is appropriate,” the president said (quoted by “Interfax”).

The order was given by Vladimir Putin during a meeting on the development of support settlements in the Arctic zone. The initiative to lift restrictions on length of service at the meeting was made by the governors of the Arctic regions. In their opinion, such a decision will attract young specialists to the regions.

The Arctic Mortgage program involves purchasing apartments in new buildings, private houses, or receiving money for their construction. The down payment is 20% of the property value, the mortgage term is up to 20 years. The program covers apartments with a cost of up to 6 million rubles. At today’s meeting, the president supported the proposal to increase the limit to 9 million rubles. The Arctic zone of Russia includes the Murmansk region, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, as well as individual regions and municipalities of Komi, Karelia, Yakutia, the Arkhangelsk region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
