Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Government of the Russian Federation by July 1 to consider the establishment of turnover fines for companies for leaking personal data. The relevant document is published on website Kremlin.
“The Government of the Russian Federation should consider establishing turnover fines for companies that leak personal data,” the text of the document says.
It is also noted that the head of state instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to work out the issue of strengthening responsibility for the illegal circulation of leaked personal data of citizens and other violations of the law in this area.
It is worth noting that in the summer-autumn of 2022, a leak of personal data of the SDEK service, Russian Post and other companies was reported. Not so long ago, the Sportmaster chain of stores admitted the leakage of confidential customer information.
