The Government of the Amur Region issued a decree prohibiting the disposal by burning pesticides and agrochemicals in the area of the city of Zavitinsk. This was reported today, January 13, on official website areas. The authorities explained their decision by the fact that the anxiety of the residents does not subside.
“Equipment for the disposal of obsolete agrochemicals, installed in the Zavitinsky municipal district, has received all permits and licenses. Burning agrochemicals on it did not and could not harm people. But we understand the concern of the residents. Therefore, we decided to stop the work, ”the press service of the region quotes the comment of Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Sevastyanov.
Dismantling of the installation is planned in the spring, when the temperature regime will allow these works to be carried out. The location of the new location of the installation will be agreed with the federal supervisory authorities in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation. Until that moment, the agrochemicals to be destroyed will be stored in the former warehouses (near the Vostochny cosmodrome.— “b”) in sealed containers, the report said.
As Kommersant reported, from January 15, at a site 5 km from Zavitinsk, the process of recycling pesticides and agrochemicals from a batch temporarily stored near the cosmodrome was to be resumed. Contract worth 24 million rubles. for the burning of 488 tons of pesticides was concluded on December 27 last year. Earlier, 100 tons of hazardous substances were already burned at the same site. Fearing for their health and negative consequences for the environment, residents sent appeals to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rospotrebnadzor, the prosecutor’s office, and the governor.
The initiative group also filed a lawsuit with the court, which has already been accepted and scheduled for consideration at the end of January.
“There are shortcomings, possibly related to the samples, to the site, to this incinerator, and perhaps this combined and influenced this decision. In any case, we are very happy, we are waiting for official documents that the contract and the land lease agreement have been terminated. We are waiting for the governor’s order to stop any such activity on the territory of the Zavitinsky municipal district. We are happy that we actually stopped this car,” representatives of the initiative group of Zavitinsk residents commented on the decision of the authorities to Kommersant.
