Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that simplifies the acquisition of citizenship by foreigners employed in the Russian army under a contract for a period of at least a year.
The law was adopted by the State Duma on September 20, and the Federation Council approved it on September 21.
The amendments will allow foreign citizens to apply for the acquisition of Russian citizenship without continuous residence in the country for five years, as well as without providing a residence permit. Also, the changes in the law provide that the first contract for military service in the Russian army can be concluded with a foreign citizen for one year, and not for five years, as it was before.
September 21 in Russia was announced partial mobilization. It is carried out to control the line of contact with a length of 1 thousand km, as well as Ukrainian territories that have come under the control of the Russian military.
Those who have served, have a military specialty and combat experience, which is 1% of the total mobilization resource, are subject to mobilization, explained Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to him, 300,000 reservists will be called up.
