Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded businessman Arkady Rotenberg with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, III degree. Together with Mr. Rotenberg, Alexander Gorshkov, President of the Figure Skating Federation, was awarded the same order.
As follows from decree President, Arkady Rotenberg and Alexander Gorshkov were awarded “for their contribution to the development of physical culture and popularization of national sports.”
70-year-old Arkady Rotenberg is ranked 53rd in the Forbes ranking of Russian billionaires. In the presidential decree, he is listed as the chairman of the board of the All-Russian public organization “Hockey Federation of Russia”. There are Western sanctions against him. For Mr. Rotenberg, this is the fifth order. In 2020, he was awarded the title of Hero of Labor, his company Stroygazmontazh was the general contractor for the construction of the Crimean bridge.
Alexander Gorshkov, 75, has been in charge of the FFKKR since 2010. He is an Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of the USSR, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation.
