Psychologists warned about the consequences of skipping the September 1st line

Many schools admit that not everyone showed up for the solemn assembly on a sunny Friday morning on September 1. And not only those who have already had and will have such events: many first-graders, according to their future mentors, have already “skipped” their first school celebration in their lives, as well as many graduates missed their last school Day of Knowledge.

We listened to the excuses of those who did not reach the schools on a hot Friday. As well as warnings from teachers about how this could turn out for students and their parents.

“In the last warm days, I want to stay in the country or extend my stay at sea while there is a cheap “shift change” before the velvet season – I can understand everything,” admits the director of one of the Moscow schools in the south-west of the capital. – But how could those who enrolled them in the first grade not bring their children?! They themselves showed by their act that school is not so important if there is the sea or the sun. And then the child himself will extend these “good reasons” for himself! Such mothers and fathers themselves deprived their child of the first initiation into the school world, which is very important! I believe that only illness can be a valid reason for such a disregard for attitude. Real, not imaginary.

This position is shared by child psychologists.

– Without five, a first-grader, of course, knows that he will have 11 years of school, but even mature adults are afraid to go anywhere for the first time, – says psychologist Maya Verbitskaya. – Therefore, when a mother, say, says: oh, it’s so warm, let’s go from Monday, the child certainly won’t mind. But on Monday, he may find that everyone is already seated at their desks, getting to know each other, and he is, as it were, an outsider. And here he will tell his mother: “I don’t want to go to this school anymore!” And my mother will come to us with the question of what to do.

And school psychologist Inna Starovoitova adds:

– You can skip September 1, we are all living people with our own situations. But not in these five cases, when your child: goes to the first class for the first time; if it is more important for him to be at school on September 1 than on vacation; if transferring to a new school, if transferring from elementary school to middle school (from 4th to 5th grade) and from middle to high school (to 10th grade). All these moments are connected with the change of teachers and partly the team, so it is important for the student to be present during these changes in order to adapt smoothly and in a timely manner.

We found the mother of a first-grader who initiated skipping school on her very first day in her seven-year-old son’s life and asked about the reasons.

“Just imagine,” the parent begins passionately, from which it is clear that she is making excuses not for the first time in a day. – We were supposed to fly in from the south on August 30 in the evening. But they arrived only on the 31st, since Moscow did not receive planes all night. That night we spent the night at the airport of departure without proper food, exhausted, nowhere to sleep. We got home only in the evening, ate, washed and passed out. Even I could not get up on the 1st in the morning, and the child was completely exhausted. What am I, a beast, or what? Of course, she let me sleep and took me to the dacha while the days were warm. And he will go to school on Monday, this school will not run away anywhere.

Well, the mother can also understand. As well as services that close airports for safety. Only in the day preceding the Day of Knowledge, according to the capital’s airports, a total of more than a hundred flights of predominantly Russian southern directions were delayed in receiving and sending.

Other first-class truant parents arrived on August 30, but without luggage. And it had everything that my daughter needed for school, since Muscovites were bought in Sochi. Luggage was found only on September 1 for dinner.

– And what was I to do?! – This mother is also protected. – Buy everything new on the go and drag it to school? The daughter in Sochi chose everything herself, she wanted to go that way, she roared like a beluga because of the loss. And my mother, she is 70, demanded that I stamp my foot and go to her school – it’s necessary, then it’s necessary! Like, explain to the child that this is how it should be. And I told her: in your time it was a cult “it’s supposed to be, and that’s it.” And I understand with my mind that there will be nothing important at school on Friday. Just organizational moments. Specifically, school will only start on Monday. Now my mother does not talk to me, but the luggage was found and my daughter calmed down. Personally, for the first time in our first class is postponed to Monday.

And parents at some schools in northeast Moscow say they have been sent messages informing them that only five parents per class will be allowed to the lineup on September 1 “for security reasons.”

– And we have 38 children in the class! – the father of the first grader is indignant. – In the parent chat, they could not choose the top five, quarreled and disconnected. And in the end, we and several other families decided not to go ourselves, and not to take children, since such a thing. The very word “safety” in the message is already unsettling! I immediately recall Beslan and other horrors associated with high-profile school holidays. Let’s go from Monday, quietly and calmly, without attracting too much attention celebrations.

According to an anonymous survey, among parents-“truants” most of all are those who are subconsciously afraid of the mass celebration of September 1 in the open area in front of the school. Psychologists call such “victims of the information field” and offer to be treated with sedative preparations, which causes only another surge of indignation among moms and dads. A minority of “titular” reasons have three: disdain for “talking”, which on September 1 replaces normal lessons, as well as for any events from the OBZH series (basics of life safety). And also cheaper tours to the sea by the end of summer and savings on flowers for teachers.

“And then we don’t have one teacher in the 1st grade, as in our time, but as many as five – music, work, a second language, and also a headmistress and head teacher,” the father of the twin first-graders bends his fingers. – If we wear flowers to all of them, we will have nothing to eat. A month later, Teacher’s Day – and bring it again. We just didn’t go to class.

In fairness, such parents are an absolute minority. And most teachers, like our first interlocutor, the director of a prestigious gymnasium, believe that you can not come to the first grade for the first time only if the school recruit is naturally unable to get out of bed due to illness. Everything else is excuses.
