Sony PlayStation owners have to wait two months for warranty repairs. As Izvestia writes, service centers have greatly increased the service time, including due to problems with logistics. The manufacturer of set-top boxes, the Japanese Sony, left the Russian market a year ago. But she continued to repair equipment.
True, now service centers do not have the opportunity to purchase spare parts for the future, Denis Kuskov, CEO of the TelecomDaily agency, notes:
“Now, when there are difficulties with logistics, there is no way to keep a large number of components in warehouses. All this leads to an increase in both cost and repair time. Previously, the relationship between manufacturers and service centers was direct, the brand provided the depth of the order and payment. Unfortunately, this is currently not possible for various reasons.
What model are authorized service centers currently operating on? Components, as a rule, are purchased by Russian companies through parallel imports. Perhaps the situation will change, and now all this will be sent somewhere abroad, which again will lengthen the warranty period and the cost of post-warranty repairs. Consoles are more unified devices – some components can be adjusted independently through such centers, it is not advisable to do this with others.
Russian laws clearly establish the maximum period for warranty repairs. But now it is physically impossible to fulfill the requirements, Oleg Frolov, the leading lawyer of the Society for the Protection of Consumer Rights “Public Control”, notes. And, according to him, even the courts are likely to side with the business:
“The maximum allowable period for warranty repairs should be 45 days. Accordingly, during this period, the authorized person is obliged to carry out repairs. If parts are missing, then it is his responsibility. And after the expiration of the term, the authorized person is already obliged to pay a penalty – 1% of the price of the goods for each day of delay. Now all resources have been exhausted, and now the situation is stalemate. I believe that there will be some kind of moratorium on this article. However, I am not sure that the courts will be more lenient in this regard, a positive decision is more likely to be in favor of consumers. In this case, it would be more correct to demand termination of the contract.”
Last week, the media reported that Apple is trying to establish a new scheme for its service centers. Due to new US sanctions, the corporation cannot supply gadgets to Russia to replace faulty ones. Therefore, new, local legal entities will be opened abroad. And they, under agreements with Russian centers, will begin to accept equipment and send it back to Russia.
