It’s unpleasant to catch yourself on the behavioral patterns of, let’s say, a retired geek. I have repeatedly been indignant about the displays in smartphones that are curved on the sides – there is no practicality in them. Meanwhile, vendors, with the persistence of a donkey, continue to release them and do not explain why. Get it – use it.
I have to admit that I’m a bore, but there is still a sense in curved screens. But only aesthetic. By exposing the side frames at an angle, engineers visually narrow them when looking at the smartphone directly. Well, to the touch, devices with such displays seem thinner.
The Realme 10 Pro+, which I recently tested, also has a curved screen. But aside from the curvature, the 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display feels pretty good. Peak brightness up to 800 nits, refresh rate up to 120 Hz, smooth animation.
The latter, however, is rather the merit of the interaction between the hardware stuffing and the Realme UI 4.0 shell on Android 13. The developers chose MediaTek Dimensity 1080 with a Mali-G68 GPU as the chipset for 10 Pro +. Performance scores in synthetic benchmarks placed the 10 Pro+ in the top 20% of smartphones. But I was much more impressed by the throttling tests. The device turned out to be a tough nut to crack under load.
I am sure that everyday subjective impressions are more important for most users. For example, battery life. With a battery capacity of 5000 mAh and medium loads, it is easy to put it down in two days. For scenarios with extreme power consumption, the developers have provided a complete 67 W adapter. It fully charges the smartphone in about 40 minutes.
The main camera is 108 MP with phase detection autofocus, which gives excellent photos and videos in automatic modes. Processing algorithms successfully stabilize the picture. Wide-angle and selfie lenses are rather just good. But shooting on a macro sensor will require a lot of unconditional love. The maximum memory layout of 12 + 256 GB cannot be physically expanded in any way. The developers have provided only a slot for two SIM-cards. Virtually, you can increase the RAM up to 24 GB.
