In Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl region, today, November 9, a state of emergency was introduced due to an accident at the sewer collector of the main pumping station. This was reported by the press service of the city district administration.
The central water supply in the city has been completely cut off, since to repair the collector it is necessary to eliminate the flow of wastewater into the sewerage system. Local authorities have organized the delivery of water to the courtyards of houses; volunteers deliver water to their apartments for people with limited mobility. Schools have been switched to distance learning and kindergartens are closed. At first it was planned to repair the collector by the morning of November 9, but it turned out that the pipe needed to be replaced.
“During the emergency restoration work, it was revealed that the pipe section was completely unsuitable for further operation. It was decided to completely replace this section of the pipeline. In this regard, emergency work was carried out all night and continues at the present time,” the administration of Pereslavl-Zalessky reported.
Due to lack of water, heating was turned off in the Chkalovsky microdistrict and a number of houses served by small boiler houses. According to the city administration, most of the city is provided with heat. Governor Mikhail Evraev said that regional authorities are providing assistance in eliminating the consequences of the accident.
“To provide people with water supplies and help the city eliminate the consequences, additional equipment and crews were allocated. I’m in touch with the district leadership. The service plans to restore the water supply and heating by 14:00,” said Mikhail Evraev.
