Patriarch Kirill urged not to consider Ukrainians as enemies

During a sermon at the Zachatievsky convent in Moscow, the patriarch said that “today our Fatherland, historical Russia, is going through difficult trials.” According to him, the people of Ukraine “are in danger,” and they are trying to “turn them from a part of the holy united Russia into a state that is contrary to this Russia, hostile to Russia.”
“It is very important that this feeling does not arise in our hearts that there (in Ukraine.— “b”) enemy. We must pray today that the Lord will strengthen the fraternal feelings of the peoples of Holy Russia, so that the unity of our church, which is the guarantee of peace in the vastness of Russia, becomes even stronger, ”said the patriarch (quoted by RIA Novosti).
He is convinced that the schism in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has become part of the enemy’s strategy. “There (in Ukraine.— “b”) the Orthodox faith is preserved, and our brothers and sisters, archpastors and pastors, who are united around the throne of the Lord, continue to pray, I believe, for the cessation of internecine warfare and the establishment of peace in the expanses of historical Russia, ”added the patriarch.

Patriarch Kirill claims that the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine is fueled by external forces, trying to divide “one people.” In September, the UOC stopped commemorate Patriarch Kirill in the liturgies.
