Patient suspected of anthrax hospitalized in Moscow region

The Department of Rospotrebnadzor for the Moscow Region reported that a citizen who arrived from Chuvashia had a suspicion of anthrax. He was hospitalized in one of the medical institutions of the region. Disinfection was carried out at the place of residence of the citizen, said press office departments.
“Specialists of the department immediately launched an epidemiological investigation … The information previously published in the media and social networks that the sick man managed to leave the capital region and was hospitalized only upon returning to the Republic of Chuvashia is not true,” the press release of Rospotrebnadzor says.
March 15 Head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolaev informedthat in the Tsivilsky municipal district, two local residents became infected with anthrax. They have been admitted to the hospital. The Ministry of Health assessed their condition as moderate. Office of Rospotrebnadzor for Chuvashia later clarifiedthat the cause of infection was contact with livestock raw materials – butchered carcass of a bull. On March 17, in the settlement where cases of infections were recorded, there was introduced quarantine.
