Participants of international judo competitions held a joint training session with boxers from the Chelyabinsk region

The Dynamo sports complex hosted a joint training session of South Ural boxers and judokas who will perform on June 24-25 at the stage of the Fonbet Russia judo Tour professional tour series in the Traktor arena.

45 athletes gathered in the gym to practice judo and boxing techniques, as well as exchange experience in participating in tournaments. The training was led by the head coach of the Chelyabinsk region boxing team Farigat Kasymov, Honored Master of Sports of Russia, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Sydney, Yuri Stepkin, was the guest of honor of the event. He shared with the guys the secrets of success and victories.

“The Boxing Federation of the Chelyabinsk Region has been practicing joint training and sharing experience with other sports for a long time. Today we are training with judoists, who next week will have to defend the honor of the region at international competitions. Boxing and judo have common features in general physical fitness, as well as the speed of decision-making in fights,” said Farigat Kasymov.

“The joint training of sports training centers in judo and boxing is an excellent manifestation of friendship in sports. Athletes can borrow each other’s striking and throwing techniques, hand and footwork. In addition, today’s meeting will help the guys unload from thoughts about the upcoming competitions,” added Yuri Stepkin.

Among those present were participants of the upcoming international tournament Fonbet Russian judo Tour in Chelyabinsk: Denis Korotaev, Danila Siryak, Vladimir Antonov and Artemy Chelovechkov.

“The training turned out to be varied, it was nice to spend time with the guys. I learned new tactics and techniques, I will apply them in practice whenever possible. Remembering last year’s Russian judo Tour, I can note the high level of organization of the tournament. I had to compete with athletes with a high level of training. I think that this year we will have a colorful tournament and uncompromising fights,” said Denis Korotaev, silver medalist of the Russian Cup, silver medalist of the Russian Judo Tour 2022.

At the end of the training, the judoists invited representatives of the boxing training center of the Chelyabinsk region to the tournament, which will take place next weekend.

“Vivid impressions and a positive charge remained after training with judokas. Such events are important for athletes. We need to improve, take something from other sports and be versatile athletes. We will definitely come to support the guys and cheer for our South Urals!” Tamerlan Kasymov, a participant in the joint training, Master of Sports of Russia in boxing, shared his impressions.

Recall that Fonbet international judo competitions for men and women – the stage of professional competitions “Russian Judo Tour” will be held on June 24 and 25. On the first day, men will identify the strongest in weights up to 60, 66 and 73 kg, and women – up to 63, 70, 78 kg and over 78 kg. On Sunday, June 25, there will be fights in the categories up to 81, 90, 100 kg and over 100 kg for men, as well as up to 48 kg, 52 kg and 57 kg for women. Each day the preliminary meetings will start at 10:00 am and the final block will start at 5:00 pm. Anyone can become a guest of the largest event, tickets can also be purchased at the city’s box office.
