From September 1, the rental service of electric scooters will not be available in Paris. According to the RTBF TV channel, the capital of France becomes the first European capital that prohibits the rental of electric scooters to the population.
According to journalists, the Paris City Hall is not renewing contracts with three private operators that provide a fleet of these vehicles in the city. Suppliers will have to remove the scooters from the streets themselves by the end of August.
The decision was made on the basis of the results of a city referendum, which took place on April 2 and in which more than 100,000 Parisians took part. 89% of those who voted were in favor of the ban. In their opinion, scooters scattered around the city caused problems and also raised concerns about the safety of users.
